CATALYST is an international academic society for Clinical Teaching Fellows across the NHS and medical educators worldwide.
We aim to create a collaborative community focused on advancing clinical education, simulation, and training.
CATALYST was founded by Medical Education Fellows at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The society grew from a recognised need to connect fellows beyond individual hospitals, creating an international community for collaboration, academic development, and shared educational innovation.
CATALYST membership is open to Clinical Teaching Fellows working across NHS hospitals, as well as doctors and medical students with a strong interest in clinical education, simulation, and training worldwide.
We promote educational research, publication, innovation in teaching practice, and engagement with postgraduate qualifications in medical education, supporting fellows to grow as academic clinician-educators.
CATALYST connects fellows across hospitals and specialties, enabling shared teaching resources, open discussion, and multi-centre educational projects.
Through national conferences, webinars, and forums, CATALYST showcases fellows’ work and builds lasting professional connections.
We provide peer support, career guidance, and signposting to training opportunities, strengthening the CTF role and the learning environments fellows help shape.
